From Vancouver to the Rocky Mountains and Back

DAY 1: Arrival in Vancouver
Arrived at Vancouver International Airport, you will be welcomed by one of our guides. You will then be transferred to your Hotel on Vancouver Bay and on your way have a brief  tour of the city. This first day will be dedicated to visit the main Vancouver city’s attractions, such as Stanley Park with its Aquarium, the Suspension Bridge and the wonderful bay nestled on a striking landscape between the mountains and sea. You will also going up to visit those mountains that dominate the bay and that are favorite destinations of Vancouverites, in winter and summer as well.

DAY 2: Vancouver Island
In the morning, after picking up your rented car to, you will be ready to start your self & drive itinerary that will cross all the area starting from Vancouver Island. Right from its principal town, the super-Victorian city of Victoria. Then, you’ll drive northwestwards and reach the West Coast Island, in the Pacific Rim area. Here you will find the charming little towns on the ocean: Tofino and Ucluelet, two real jewels of Vancouver Island West Coast. In wintertime, people come here to watch the violent and fascinating Pacific Ocean Storms, from their safe luxurious Hotel Lodges along the wonderful Pacific Rim Coast, the largest Marine National Park in Canada. This park with its  coast is a great destination for passionate travelers and naturalistic photographers in search of magnificent images of this wild nature. Great whales, killer whales, and sea lions live here all year round and they are the real stars of this area.  Our expert charterers will take you close to these fascinating animals. You will stay in one of the nice lodges along the Pacific Rim Coast.

DAY 3:  Fishing excursion or alternative option
Today, you can go to salmon trawl fishing. We have the best fishing charterers of the area and fishing in these waters is something that should absolutely be tried. Alternatively, you could trek along the wonderful West Coast Trail from Ucluelet and then plunge into a lush environment between the rain forest and cliffs on the sea.  You will end your day by driving back to the east coast town of Nanaimo, where you will board the ferry that will take to the mainland at Horseshoe Bay, on the western side of Vancouver.

DAY 4: Okanagan and Kamloops
Today, you can have some rest or if you prefer move to Okanagan district, that you will be able to reach in a 4 hours drive along a wonderful road. Okanagan lays in the Fraser River Valley, that became known in the 19th century because of the Gold Rush. Here it is grown most of the best fruit in all Canada, especially grape. You will then move to Kamloops and relax on the banks of one of the many lakes of the area, that are renowned for its trouts such as the Kamloops trout. You will stay in a ranch for the night.

DAY 5: Fishing excursion
Here you might spend one more day fishing in one of the many lakes around the Kamloops area. Here, you can try to fish the famed Kamloops Trout, the gigantic Raimbow Trout, a special trout kind much bigger than others.  Our charterer will give you an ideal fishing day in one of the most charming areas of British Columbia. Besides, you will stay in one of our nice associated ranches, from where you can also start some horseback excursions among the vineyard rows and fruit trees of this magnificent valley.

DAY 6:  Wells Gray National Park and Jasper
Today, you will cross the Thompson River Valley, driving through Wells Gray National Park. Here, you will be able to see many waterfalls and a marvelous park, stopping at Clearwater. You will also stop along the scenic Blue River, where you might do some light rafting along its course. Driving northwards, you will take the famous Highway 16, called Yellowhead Highway and  reach your first stop in the Rockies: Jasper.

DAY 7: Jasper National Park
Today will be dedicated to the visit of the Jasper National Park with its wonderful glacial lakes. The beauty of these places really gives its visitors the felling to be in a paradise on earth. Animals cross undisturbed the great park highway, not at all frightened by tourists trying to immortalize them with their powerful camera lenses. Here you will find wolves, bison, mouflon sheep, bighorn goats and and many bears with their cubs. Overnight in a typical lodge with open air whirlpool bath tub and a renowned West Coast cuisine.

DAY 8 and DAY 9:  Columbia Icefield
You will spend two days in the wonderful Columbia Icefield area and cross the Icefield Parkway. A  shuttle bus, with gigantic ice wheels, will take you to visit this wonderful glacier. Many glaciers feed rivers that rapidly reach the underlying Kootneys valleys. There are about 1800 rivers and streams in British Columbia. You will spend the night in a famed hotel in the Glacier.
After visiting the spectacular Yoho National Park, and the mountains that dominate this wonderful valley, you will tour Revelstoke, one of the favorite destinations of enthusiasts who come here from all over the world to ski on Selkirk and Monashees Mountains champagne snows. In the evening you will arrive to the characteristic lodge on the beautiful Lake Shuswap’s shores.

DAY 10 and DAY 11: Kelowna ( Okanagan) 

Back to Okanagan. This time you will visit Kelowna, the wine and fruit capital. You will stay in a typical ranch lodge on a scenic lake. Its semi-desert climate, low rainfall and blue sky give Okanagan the longest and driest summer in Canada. Golf is another attraction of this lucky area. There are many golf courses in the area, and famous golfers drew them as the Predator Ridge in Vernon, one of the most beautiful parts of Canada. Another interesting attraction is the orchards and vineyards. Take a tour to visit the beautiful Wine Estates including Kelowna, Peachland, Naramata, Oliver and Keremeos, but not before taking a refreshing dip in one of the lakes in the area. In the afternoon of the 11th day you will continue your route to southwest to get to Manning Park.

DAY 12: Skagit Valley

You are in the beautiful Skagit Valley, one of the most beautiful places in the region with one of the most beautiful and interesting parks, the famous Manning Park. In this oasis of wild nature you can exercise a variety of activities and excursions, you can see the forests of wild rhododendrons which are in full bloom in May. Otherwise, take an excursion to the Ross Lake, which is surrounded by a series of peaks and trails that go up in the mountains; people come here to see the spectacular scenery of the valley below.

In Manning Park you can also ride a horse to visit the park in the most interesting way. This park is one of the first parks to have been established in British Columbia, so the variety of trees and animals here is truly astounding. About 250 varieties of animals and more than 100 tree species are present including wild rhododendron. The valley of Skagit is named after the river known to fishermen enthusiasts in North America for its great fishing rainbow. This river is considered to be one of the jewel fisheries in the region, both for its abundance of fish and for the rare beauty of its course.

DAY 13: The Grand Canyon at Hells Gate

Another step towards Vancouver with several stops during the itinerary along the valley of Fraser River. The Grand Canyon is located at Hells Gate, one of the most striking one in Canada, and you can visit it with a small cable car that will take you across the river going up the difference in height between the two sides. Along this valley, you can visit some parks. Harrison River is a beautiful tributary, full of fish. The same applies to the Coquihalla, another tributary of Fraser River at the small town of Hope, where you will stay in a hotelodge. Here you can go fishing and spend a beautiful day on a picnic and fishing trip along the banks of this lovely river.

DAY 14: Along the Vedder River

Along the road from Hope to Vancouver there are some interesting places where you can stop. The valley and the course of Vedder River is one of them. The beautiful river, a tributary of Fraser, is best known for fishermen of the region. In Chilliwack you can visit the Hatchery to know one of the secrets of fishing in this region. In the afternoon we will continue along Highway 1 to get to Vancouver where it will be the end of your itinerary.
